"maybe this will help"

date: June 7, 2002

no offense, but I have a little advice. You used the equivalent of stop-gap animation in the cinema biz but in flash it's just frame-by-frame.

First of all, you want to make your set as plain as possible if it's not pertinent to the scene. For example, use 2 large peices of posterboard for your set. One on the floor, and one standing vertically behind the stage (scene elements).

Second, you should have zoomed in closer to your characters. You have made a flash animation that is 1.2MB large and most of your scene is a chair with cloth drapped over it. IF this were a gif animation, the file size would have been much smaller because the only elements that change are a small portion of the overal raster area. But in flash with imported graphix, each frame shoots up your file size. You could have imported the same size images but zoomed in so that your characters filled the screen and it would have been a more interesting view.

Also, and this (hopefully helpful) criticism is going to hurt them most: Most good movies have something called a plot. Granted, it's fashionable to celebrate wanton action and violence, but if you are going to concentrate on those facets of movie making, you may want to focus more attention on the quality of your special effects.

I voted 4/5 anyway!

TerrorWar - Da PAYBACK

"Yay!"

date: April 11, 2002

Pretty kewl!
I liked it, and wonder why your score isn't higher...so I gave you a 5/5.

In my opinion, to make the game more interesting, perhaps you could limit the number of nukes available in the arsenel, thereby creating the need for some strategic planning on the part of the participant. Also, you could score the game, giving places like Mecca and Bahgdad more points then backwater Saudi Arabia (this would require that you do not identify the targets on the map and require the participant to chose based on his/her own knowledge of the region's geography).

Having Saddam and Arafat pop up was a good comical twist. I like it.

I would, however, like to point out to all players of this game, that when you are done playing this, please view my movie in which you will get the chance to view what a 500 megaton ICBM will do to the entire region in comparison to the relatively small yeild nukes used in this game.

Good shit, pepsi. The only thing is when you take a very serious emotion like rejection and exceptance among peers, and put clocks in it, it starts making me laugh my ass off!

Women Drivers

"good!"

submission: Women Drivers
date: January 28, 2002

I liked it. Kinda funny. I voted 5 (would give it 4.5 if I could), but since you asked for advice, here's my input. I would make the birds a little more fiesty when the first woman driver stops. Make them wait longer and give her more lip when she honks. That would make it funnier. Have them say to each other about what push-overs women drivers are, to help set it up for when the second woman driver comes and doesn't stop. Also, one other minor detail. Those dainty women drivers that would stop for some birds in the road wouldn't run over the roadkill. She would probably go out of her way to steer around it. But funny stuff. I like it.

Farewell, Dave Thomas.

"This was actually quite good!!!"

date: January 9, 2002

I luv the orange singing opera. The ghost food....nice touch. Maybe you could thrown in more, like do a history of Dave's advertising (you put in the "where's the beef", but you should research more). Do that and you would prolly get one of those flash movies that gets hot for a few days goes around the internet in everyone's emails.

"I really wanna know!"

date: December 10, 2001

Dood! I really wanna know how you syncronized events (primarily mouth movments) with the music all the way through the movie. Nice job! I know that if you place audio and animations in a movie and get syncronized on one box, go to a slower or faster computer and they get whacked.

That got a laff outa me. NG being down for soo long was very frustrating! And now they are back and it seems they are bogged down a lot. But hey, we wouldn't be so frustrated if we weren't so hooked on NG, so I think it's okay to vent about the problems they are experiencing. I hope NG continues to have such tremendous growth, and maybe they will find a way to solve their growing pains.
